  • Detailed description

    If you operate as a showman, "hawker" or owner of a market stall, i.e. if you offer your services or goods in constantly changing locations, you are running a travel business. To do this, you will need a travel trade card.
    You must carry these with you when carrying out your work and present them to the representatives of the locally competent authority upon request. As an employer, you must hand over a duplicate or a certified copy of the itinerant trade card to employees in your company who have direct contact with customers without your presence or who work at a location other than you.

    If you are an EU citizen who is only temporarily active across borders, you do not need a travel trade card.

    An administrative fee of EUR 40.00 to EUR 500.00 is charged for the issuance of the itinerant trade card (Ordinance on Administrative Fees in the Portfolio of the Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy [MWEGebO] No. 2.2.9 et seq.)..

  • Process

    Anyone who wants to operate a travel business requires a permit (travel trade card). The itinerant trade card may be limited in content, issued with a time limit and subject to conditions, insofar as this is necessary for the protection of the general public or consumers. Under the same conditions, the subsequent inclusion, amendment and addition of conditions is also permissible.

  • Deadline

    Usually 3 months.

  • Responsible authority

    Local regulatory authorities (§ 1 paragraph 1 of the Ordinance on Responsibilities in Trade Law [Trade Law Jurisdiction Ordinance – GewRZV]).

    The tasks of the local regulatory authorities are performed by the offices, the municipalities, the municipalities, the municipalities that co-administer the municipalities and the independent cities (§ 3 of the Regulatory Authorities Act – OBG).
