    An application is not required in Brandenburg, as the initial examination is carried out in accordance with § 32 JArbSchG as part of the school leaving examination.


  • Detailed description

    If you are not yet 18 years old and would like to start gainful employment (training), you must first be examined by a doctor (initial examination).

    The examination will determine whether you are physically and developmentally suitable for this profession.

    This is to prevent you from suffering damage to your health as a result of your work. After the examination, you will receive a certificate. You must present this to your employer.

    You do not need an examination if you start a marginal job (mini-job up to a maximum of € 450.00 per month) or if you only work for a short time (maximum 2 months). This applies, for example, to a holiday job or a student internship.

    The initial examination according to § 32 JArbSchG is a mandatory task of the health authorities, paediatric and adolescent medical service in Brandenburg. It must be carried out as part of the school leaving examinations.

    • You are between 15 and 17 years old
    • You want to take up a job
    • This work is not marginal and lasts longer than 2 months

    • an identity document (e.g. identity card, children's ID card or passport)

  • Process

    The initial examination according to § 32 JArbSchG is a mandatory task of the health authorities, paediatric and adolescent medical service in Brandenburg. It is to be carried out as part of the school dismissal examinations.

    After the examination, the young people examined receive a certificate. You must present this to your employer.

  • Deadline

    The examination must take place before you start work.

    You must start work no later than 14 months after the examination.
