Detailed description
The authorities of the Customs Administration monitor compliance with the minimum wage. For this purpose, you can inspect business documents such as employment contracts and request the preparation of documents from employers. Violations can be sanctioned with a fine of up to EUR 500,000. In addition, companies can be excluded from public procurement.

From 1 January 2015, a minimum wage of EUR 8.50 applied. This was increased to EUR 8.84 as of 1 January 2017.

Until 31.12.2016, wages below EUR 8.50 were only permitted if a collective agreement declared generally binding under the Posted Workers Act or the Temporary Employment Act or a corresponding ordinance under these laws provided for this.

A transitional arrangement applied to newspaper deliverers until 31 December 2016.
Since 1 January 2017, every employee has been entitled to EUR 8.84 gross per hour worked.
