  • Detailed description

    For each constituency, the municipality maintains an official voters' register. In principle, voters who are registered in the municipality with their main residence on the 42nd day before the election are entered ex officio in the V voters' register and receive a voter notification no later than the 21st day before the election.

    If you have not received a voter notification by the 21st day before the election, you should immediately check with your municipality whether you are registered on the voters' register. If this is not the case, you can apply for registration.

    If you have a different situation, e.B. moving into the municipality after the 42nd day before the election or permanent residence as a secondary residence, please contact the municipal election authority immediately.

  • Requirements

    All Germans who vote on election day are entitled to vote

    - have reached the age of eighteen

    - have had an apartment in Germany for at least three months or are otherwise habitually staying

    and

    - are not excluded from the right to vote.

    You can consult the voters' register of your city or municipality on the working days from the 20th to the 16th day before the election during the general opening hours of your municipal administration.

    If you have not been included in the electoral roll, you must immediately apply in writing or in person for inclusion in the electoral roll. The municipal administration will then check again whether you are entitled to vote for the upcoming election. .

    Your informal written request should contain the following information:

    • Your surname,
    • Your first names
    • your date of birth,
    • Your residential address,
    • Your signature
    • and the wording "Objection to the voters' register and application for entry on the electoral roll"
  • Duration

    If your objection is granted and you are subsequently entered in the voters' register, you will immediately receive a voter notification. If the municipal administration determines that your objection cannot be granted, you will also be notified immediately.

  • Deadline

    You can submit your application for entry on the voters' register no later than the 21st day before the election; thereafter, an amendment is only possible on the basis of timely objection or, in cases of obvious inaccuracy, ex officio.
