A marriage certificate must also be presented if the marriage is dissolved.

  • Fees

The notification of a birth at the registry office is free of charge.

Administrative fees are charged for the issuance of a birth certificate:

  • Process

If your child is born in a hospital or birthing centre, the institution notifies the competent registry office and sends the birth announcement.

If your child is born at home, midwives, obstetricians and doctors will issue the birth certificate. You must then personally submit these to the responsible registry office within one week. A telephone or written notification is inadmissible.

  • Deadline

The birth of a child must be reported to the competent authority within one week.

The date of birth is not included in the calculation of the notification period.
