Certificate of miscarriage
If your child was stillborn and it is a miscarriage, you can report the birth to the registry office in whose jurisdiction the miscarriage occurred. On request, the registry office will issue a certificate of this.

Detailed description
On request, the competent registry office will issue a certificate of notification of a miscarriage.
Miscarriage is the term used to describe the fetus that showed no signs of life (heartbeat, pulsating umbilical cord, lung breathing) when separated from the womb, weighed less than 500 grams and did not reach the 24th week of pregnancy.
Upon request, the registry office can issue the complainant with a certificate in accordance with § 31 PStV on the notification of a miscarriage.

Requirements
There was a miscarriage, this was reported to the responsible registry office with the necessary documents.
The notification is only possible if you would have been entitled to personal care if the child was born alive, i.e. they were married to each other as parents at the time of birth or who made a joint declaration of custody as unmarried parents before the birth of the child. If neither applies, the right to apply lies solely with you as the mother.

Process
Upon request, the registry office can issue the complainant with a certificate of miscarriage in accordance with § 31 PStV.
The notification must be made orally or in writing.
For the complete notification, a certificate of miscarriage issued by a doctor or midwife or an obstetrician is required.
An identity card, passport or other recognized passport replacement document of the parents.
An indication of the intended surname and first name of the child.
On the basis of the information, the registry office issues the certificate.

Deadline
- As a rule, there are no noticeable deadlines, as this is a matter of coping with the grief of the persons concerned. Since there is no certification and the certificate has no legal effects, e.g. the deadlines for the notification of a live birth do not come into consideration here.
