Detailed description
For the expansion and development of safe cycling in the region, some municipal, city or district administrations have appointed a so-called cycling officer. Depending on local conditions, this person is responsible for the following tasks, among others:
- Bicycle-friendly transport infrastructure
- Contact person for questions and problems in cycling
- Road safety for cyclists
- Coordination of cycling activities of the various associations and institutions
- Planning and implementation of events with bicycles and bicycle traffic
- Expansion of bicycle transport options in public transport, bicycle rental systems or bicycle boxes
In some places, the work as a cycling commissioner also takes place on an honorary basis.
