How do you register as a sole trader in the commercial register?

Detailed description
As a merchant, you must register for entry in the commercial register. You are obliged to provide the following data:
- Your company
- the place
- the domestic business address of the branch
- Forename
- Surname
- Your date of birth
Furthermore, you should also specify the object of the company.

Fees
The amount of the fee for registration is determined in accordance with the Court and Notary Costs Act in conjunction with the Ordinance on Fees in Commercial, Partnership and Cooperative Register Matters.
In addition, expenses are incurred for the public announcement of the registration.

Process
To apply, please contact a notary.
- The notary advises on the formulation of the application.
- The registration takes place exclusively electronically, for this purpose a publicly certified document is created.
- The declaration is provided with an electronic signature (within the meaning of § 39a Beurkundungsgesetz/BeurkG) and sent to the electronic court and administrative mailbox of the register court.

Responsible authority
The registry court (at the district court) in whose district the branch is located is responsible for the registration. The registration takes place via a notary's office.
