  • Detailed description

Compulsory schooling in Brandenburg begins for all children in the year in which they reach the age of six by 30 September. If your child reaches the age of six between 1 October and 31 December and you would like your child to start school this year, please submit an application to the responsible school as part of the registration at the school.

As a rule, registration must be made by the end of February at the responsible primary school , the specific day will be announced annually. The responsible primary school is regulated by the school district statutes of the respective school authority. If congruent school districts have been defined for a place of residence, you enroll your child in the school of your choice. To register, the child must be presented in person at the school. Proof of participation in the language proficiency assessment (in the daycare center) and proof of sufficient vaccination protection or immunity against measles or a medical contraindication to measles vaccination must be presented at the time of registration at school.

In justified exceptional cases, children who reach the age of six in the period after 31 December but before 1 August of the following year may also be admitted to school on 1 August.
