  • Detailed description

    Training at non-state vocational academies is an alternative to higher education. Berufsakademien offer at least 3 years of science-related and at the same time practice-oriented training. The degree title "Bachelor" to be achieved there is equivalent to a university Bachelor's degree and entitles the holder to a Master's degree at a university.

    Would you like to establish and operate a non-state educational institution as a vocational academy? For this, you must apply for state recognition. With state recognition, the Berufsakademie may, within the framework of recognition:

    • take exams,
    • award degree titles (Bachelor Berufsakademie (BA)) and
    • Issue certificates.

    Hint:

    State recognition entitles the educational institution to use the designation "Berufsakademie".

  • Requirements
    • A framework plan for each training course must be agreed between companies and institutions and the Berufsakademie
      • the content of practical training and supervision,
      • a change between the learning venues Berufsakademie and Praxis, which ensures coordination of academic and practical training in terms of content and time.
    • Only persons who are entitled to study at a university and who are registered by a suitable company or institution with which they have concluded a training contract may be admitted to the Berufsakademie.
    • The Berufsakademie must have the personnel, space and material equipment required for the training company and a sufficient number of suitable teachers.
    • The Berufsakademie must guarantee that it conducts the teaching and examination procedure in accordance with the applicable legislation.
    • The teachers working at the Berufsakademie and the trainees must be appropriately involved in the design of the training company.
    • The existence of the Berufsakademie must appear financially secure for the duration of the training of the respective trainees according to a financing plan of its sponsor.
    • At least 40% of teaching should be provided by full-time teachers who meet the recruitment requirements for a professorship at a university of applied sciences. The Berufsakademie offers at least 2 different training courses, each with several technical focuses. This does not apply if, within a training course, the establishment of technical focal points is not suggested by the corresponding occupational field of activity.
    • The Berufsakademie shall have a board of trustees which shall participate in decisions on the development of the Berufsakademie and on all questions of fundamental importance concerning it and which shall at least include representatives of the competent Chamber of Industry and Commerce or another professional chamber, employers' and employees' organisations, companies involved in training, teachers working at the Berufsakademie and trainees. belong to.

  • Process

    You must apply for state recognition at the competent authority. The written form is not required by law for the application, but is usually required because of the extensive documents required.

    If the prerequisites are met and if accreditation/evaluation is successful, you will receive a notification of recognition. The recognition determines the name, seat and sponsor of the Berufsakademie as well as the recognised training courses.

    Note: If you want to make significant changes subsequently (e.g. extension to further training courses, change of institution), you must obtain the consent of the competent authority.
