Official approval of a testing facility for plant protection products

Non-official test facilities in which tests on the efficacy of plant protection products are carried out can be officially recognized on application.

  • Detailed description

    A testing facility is an official or officially recognized facility with its own organizationally independent equipment and personnel for the purpose of conducting trials to determine the efficacy of plant protection products. Experimental facilities that are operated or set up by a private or public body can be officially recognized upon application.

  • Requirements

    Recognition is granted if

    1. the person in charge

    • is permanently employed
    • has a degree from a university or university of applied sciences in the field of agriculture, horticulture or forestry or comparable sciences and
    • has at least two years of professional experience in carrying out relevant trials,

    2. a suitable deputy for the person in charge has been appointed,

    3. a sufficient number of qualified personnel is employed,

    4. suitable facilities are available for the proper conduct of the test

    a) A sufficient number of premises,

    b) laboratory and outdoor equipment,

    c) sufficient experimental areas and

    d) where necessary, greenhouses and climate chambers

    are available,

    5. the test guidelines to be used are known to the personnel and are available,

    6. a list of ongoing and completed trials is kept for approval purposes and

    7. all records made in the course of the trials are kept.

  • Documents

    The application for official recognition must be submitted in writing. The existence of the requirements for recognition must be proven by enclosing suitable documents.

    The evidence must be submitted to the State Office for Rural Development, Agriculture and Land Consolidation, Plant Protection Department.

  • Fees

    Administration fee: EUR 300.00

    300,- €, according to the Ordinance on the Collection of Administrative Fees in the Areas of Agriculture, Forestry and Hunting (GebOLandw)

  • Process
    • Written application (no specific form required), including all documents proving that the requirements have been met
    • Inspection of the test facility including logging
    • Conditions may be imposed and / or additional documents requested
    • If all requirements are demonstrably fulfilled, the formalized certificate of recognition is issued, which is valid for a period of five years.
  • Duration

    approx. 2 to 3 months

  • Deadline

    Applications must be submitted in good time before the start of experiments that require official recognition or certification of the experimental facility in accordance with Good Experimental Practice (GEP).
