  • Detailed description

As a disabled person, you are entitled to treatment for recognised health problems. If you are severely disabled, benefits will also be granted for non-medical conditions if and insofar as they are not otherwise provided (e.g. through membership of the statutory health insurance scheme); under the same conditions, the family members and carers of severely disabled persons as well as all surviving dependants may claim medical treatment.

The nature and scope of the benefits generally correspond to those of the statutory health insurance.

    Treatment includes

    • Outpatient medical and dental treatment,
    • provision of medicines and dressings,
    • provision of remedies, including physiotherapy, exercise therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy, as well as spectacle lenses and contact lenses
    • provision of dental prostheses,

    • treatment in a rehabilitation facility,
    • home nursing,
    • provision of assistive devices,
    • stress testing and occupational therapy,
    • non-medical social-paediatric services,
    • psychotherapy as medical and psychotherapeutic treatment and sociotherapy.

    • Occupational therapy
    • Stress testing
    • Occupational therapy
    • bathing cures,

    • All other benefits are provided by the sickness insurance fund on behalf of the pension administration.
    • If an entitled person is not a member of a health insurance fund, he or she may apply to a statutory health insurance fund of his or her choice.
  • Duration

As a rule, curative treatment is provided immediately. Certain benefits (e.g. orthopaedic care, dental prostheses) must be examined in an approval procedure and should therefore be applied for in good time.
