  • Detailed description

The aim of the funding is to make it easier for families, single parents and grandparents on low incomes to take family vacations. Families are all forms of private cohabitation with children for whom benefits are received in accordance with the Federal Child Benefit Act. Grants can also be awarded for children for whom the applicant is entitled to care or custody but who do not live in the same household.

A vacation together is an essential part of family life, promotes family cohesion and opens up new perspectives. Shared family experiences contribute to the well-being of all family members and make an important contribution to maintaining good health. Families - regardless of their financial situation - should be able to take advantage of suitable offers for family vacations.

Funding is provided for vacations with children in family holiday resorts or other facilities and vacation accommodation suitable for the purpose of family recreation. Funding is also available for family holidays in accommodation that is operated as lodging establishments or vacation accommodation. Family trips with rented caravans or mobile homes and to campsites are also eligible.

There are no restrictions on the choice of vacation destination.

The trip should last at least 2 nights and can be subsidized for a maximum of 13 nights. Splitting the vacation is not permitted. The subsidy is only possible once a year.

Payment of the approved grants is regularly made by the granting authority at the earliest 4 weeks before the start of the trip.

  • Requirements

Support is available for families who

    • have their domicile or permanent residence in the state of Brandenburg,
    • are traveling together with their children for whom benefits are received in accordance with the Federal Children's Act,
    • have a low family income and
    • have planned a vacation in officially registered vacation accommodation.

The application should be submitted in full to the State Office for Social Affairs and Supply 6 weeks before the start of the trip, but in any case before the start of the trip.

Families who have received or are receiving social benefits such as citizen's allowance, social benefit, benefits for education and participation, social assistance, child supplement or housing benefit in the month before or in the month of application are eligible. The relevant notifications must be submitted with the application.

In addition, families can receive a subsidy if their monthly income does not exceed 150% of the standard benefit of the citizen's allowance and social benefit plus the costs for accommodation and heating.

Subsidies can only be granted within the scope of available budget funds; there is no legal entitlement.

  • Documents

The following documents are required before departure:

    1. Original application form
    2. booking confirmation
    3. proof of income of all family members (three months prior to the month of application) and
    4. Proof of rent and heating costs or home ownership.

If you receive social benefits such as citizen's allowance, social benefit, benefits for education and participation, social assistance, housing benefit or child supplement, the current notification with the calculation sheet is sufficient as proof, points 3 and 4 are not required.

In the case of self-employed persons, income is deemed to be the total positive income within the meaning of Section 2 (1) and (2) of the Income Tax Act in the last calendar year prior to the application. If the income of the last calendar year has not yet been determined when the application is submitted, the income of the calendar year before last is taken as the basis. If the income for the current calendar year is likely to be lower than the underlying income for the last or penultimate calendar year, the credible income for the current calendar year is used as a basis. The application form and further information can be found on the website of the State Office for Social Affairs and Benefits.
