  • Detailed description

    The Central Trade Register (GZR) is maintained by the German Federal Office of Justice.

    To put it simply, an excerpt from the Central Trade Register (GZR) is a certificate of good conduct under trade law. In order to check personal reliability, it is required, for example, by the regulatory authority before a business requiring a permit (e.g. restaurants, brokers) is approved. The information contains all decisions that are stored in the Central Trade Register about the applicant.

    The applicant must be a data subject. This is only the one about which entries can be made in the Central Trade Register.

    Excerpt from the commercial register as proof of power of representation

    Additionally in the case of a written application (exception):

    As a private individual or legal entities and associations of persons, you can apply for information from the Central Trade Register by sending an informal letter to the competent authority.

    - Attach the required documents/proofs in each case.

    - In principle, the information is sent to the applicant by the Federal Office of Justice (Bonn) by post.

    - It is not possible to send it to an authorized person. For certain purposes, it is possible to request direct transmission to an authority. For this purpose, the address of the authority must be given when the application is submitted.

    Please note that only the application for an extract from the Central Trade Register is submitted to the competent authority. They will then send your application to the Federal Office of Justice in Bonn, from where you will receive the official information.

    The application must be submitted in person or in writing (exception) with an officially or publicly certified signature.
    It is not possible to represent the applicant by an authorised representative (e.g. lawyer, spouse). Likewise, it is not possible to submit a direct application to the Central Trade Register.
    The applicant must prove his identity and, if he acts as the legal representative of a legal entity, his power of representation with an extract from the commercial register.
