  • Detailed description

If you are an applicant from an EU member state or a member state of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), please submit your application for admission directly to the university at which you wish to study.

    Admission-free degree programs

The desired course of study is freely accessible, so access is not restricted. As a rule, every applicant is offered a place on these courses.

Local degree programs with restricted admission

An admission restriction, commonly referred to as a numerus clausus (NC), applies to degree programs for which there are not enough places available for all applicants.

Places on degree courses that are subject to local admission restrictions are allocated by the university. In these cases, applications must be submitted directly to the university.

Study programs with nationwide admission restrictions

Study places that are subject to nationwide admission restrictions are allocated by the Foundation for University Admission. It also allocates study places for selected courses at individual universities.

The allocation of study places is based on three criteria:

    • Average grade of the university entrance qualification
    • waiting time
    • University selection procedure
