Supplementary school Recognition of healthcare vocational schools

You can apply for state recognition for your school for healthcare professions from the State Office for Occupational Safety, Consumer Protection and Health (LAVG).

  • Detailed description

    You need state recognition from your school for healthcare professions to be able to train in the following healthcare professions:

    • Dietician,
    • Occupational therapist,
    • Health and pediatric nurse, health and pediatric nurse,
    • Healthcare and nursing assistant,
    • healthcare and nursing assistant, healthcare and nursing assistant,
    • Midwife and maternity nurse,
    • speech therapist and speech therapist,
    • masseuse and medical bath attendant, masseur and medical bath attendant,
    • Medical-technical assistant for functional diagnostics and medical-technical assistant for functional diagnostics (MTA),
    • Medical-technical laboratory assistant and medical-technical laboratory assistant (MTL),
    • Medical-technical radiology assistant and medical-technical radiology assistant (MTR),
    • Emergency paramedic,
    • orthoptist and orthoptist,
    • Pharmaceutical-technical assistant (PTA),
    • Physiotherapist and physiotherapist,
    • podiatrist and podiatrist,
    • paramedic and emergency medical technician.
  • Requirements
    • Proof of the necessary reliability and economic capacity for permanent and proper training in the respective healthcare profession
    • current state of pedagogical and didactic knowledge
    • Economic capacity exists if you submit
      • a financial plan showing that the financing is sufficiently secured
      • a certificate in tax matters (no tax arrears, timely payment behavior, fulfilled tax declaration obligations)
    • Guarantee of at least one class per year in the long term
    • the classes may not have more than 25 pupils
    • §§ 3 to 9 of the GBSchV

    The current teacher-student ratio is defined as follows:

    (Health Vocational School Ordinance of 25.02.2015 - this is currently being revised - the teacher-student ratio may then change)

    1. dietary assistant, occupational therapist, midwife. Massage therapist/medical bath attendant, physiotherapist

    • with 1 teacher: 12 to 15 training places

    2nd speech therapist, orthopaedist Podiatrist

    • with 1 teacher: 6 to 8 training places

    3rd MTA for functional diagnostics, MTL, MTR, PTA

    • with 1 teacher: 10 to 12 training places

    4. healthcare and pediatric nurse, healthcare and nursing assistant, healthcare and nursing assistant (in accordance with the Brandenburg Healthcare and Nursing Assistance Act), emergency paramedic

    • with 1 teacher: 15 training places

    5. paramedic/rescue assistant

    • with 1 teacher: 25 training places

      The LAVG determines the maximum number of training places and the number of classes per school depending on the training conditions (re-determination in the event of changed requirements)

      if you do not meet individual requirements or do not meet them in full: justified application for exceptional approval (especially if it is in the public interest)

    Documents required in the survey form:

    1. excerpt from the commercial or association register or similar (in officially certified form)

    2. if applicable, partnership agreement or articles of association

    3. contract/contracts with the relevant hospital/hospitals

    4. official certificate of good conduct of the person(s) authorized to represent the company (original)

    5. conclusive financing concept, if applicable confirmation of training financed by nursing care rates, if applicable financing commitment from the employment office or similar

    6. security concept that clearly demonstrates capacity utilization

    7. tax clearance certificate

    8. sample of the training contract

    9. school regulations of the future school

    10. details of the school management / deputy / teaching staff

    Documents required from all teachers:

    • Proof of qualifications (in officially certified form)
    • Current curriculum vitae (signed, original)
    • Official extended certificate of good conduct (original)
    • Employment contract, if applicable subject to state recognition of the school with details of the respective teacher's job share
    • Proof of relevant professional experience in the profession and in teaching
    • Documents required from honorary lecturers:

    • Proof of qualifications (in officially certified form)
    • Current curriculum vitae (signed, original)
    • Official certificate of good conduct (original)
    • Fee contract, if applicable subject to state recognition of the school or sample fee contract and a declaration of willingness by the lecturer
    • Permit for secondary employment, if applicable

    11. training documents:

    • Curriculum of the school, based on the framework plan (if available in this profession) of the state of Brandenburg (interlocking of subject areas, specific details of lessons, theoretical and practical lessons, methods and performance assessments, etc.)
    • Framework schedule of theoretical and practical lessons at the school/ practical training
    • Areas of practical training/ number of work placements for the respective profession:
      • Departments with number of work placement places based on the training and examination regulations for the respective occupation
      • Cooperation agreements, if applicable in draft form, or declarations of readiness from the institutions, if the training does not take place in the training institution, stating the respective number of places and the duration of the practical placements
      • Proof of qualification of the practical instructors (on the basis of the respective professional law)
      • Work placement assignments

    12. Spatial and material equipment (based on the Health Professions School Ordinance of the State of Brandenburg dated 25.02.2015)

    • Proof of ownership or rental agreements
    • Permission from the lower building supervisory authority to use the rooms for teaching purposes
    • Proof (construction plan, floor plans, etc.) of suitable and barrier-free training rooms and other rooms required for the orderly running of training (classrooms at least 2m² per student place with an additional 10m² of exercise space)
    • Room utilization plan
    • List of teaching and learning materials
    • Proof that a specialist library is available for teaching and learning purposes
    • Proof of inspection of technical equipment etc. in accordance with MedGV/MPBetriebVO; TÜV etc.

  • Process

    You apply for state recognition for your school for healthcare professions in writing:

    1. Submit the completed survey form together with the other required documents to the LAVG.
    2. The school supervisory authority will inspect the possible school building/premises.
    3. If you wish, you can have a consultation with the LAVG.
    4. You will then submit the required documents.
    5. The LAVG Department of School Supervision will check the documents.
      If necessary, you will be asked to submit additional documents.
    6. Once all the necessary documents have been submitted, you will receive notification of state recognition as a school for healthcare professions (each specialization is recognized separately as an independent school).
    7. You may receive a notification with conditions (basic requirements must be met, however).
    8. The LAVG sets deadlines for the fulfillment of conditions and checks the fulfillment of conditions at regular intervals until all requirements have been met.
    9. If there are any subsequent changes to the training facilities, update your documents and submit them to the LAVG.
