Detailed description
If you want to apply for childcare allowance, please note that this is currently only possible in Bavaria as a state benefit.
The federal childcare allowance law was formally declared unconstitutional by the Federal Constitutional Court on July 21, 2015. Since then, the previously responsible authorities are no longer allowed to approve applications.
Childcare allowance that has already been approved will continue to be paid.
If you already have an approval notice, you can receive childcare allowance of 150 euros per month per child. You can receive the childcare allowance until the child's 3rd birthday, for a maximum of 22 months of life.
If you use publicly funded daycare for your child, you are not entitled to childcare allowance.
