Wildlife accident - What to do now

Detailed description
If injured game, whether alive or already dead, lies on the road, the scene of the accident must be secured as far as possible by a warning triangle and/or hazard warning lights in order to protect the following traffic and to avoid further accidents.
Dead game should only be pulled off the road if this is possible without endangering oneself (use protective gloves!). Injured game should not be touched or otherwise disturbed (stress for the animal, self-endangerment). The killing of an injured animal may only be carried out by an authorised and competent person (e.g. the person authorised to hunt). Veterinary treatment is usually ruled out (except for an accident with a wolf – here a veterinarian must be consulted by the persons recording the accident).
Please stay as far away from the injured animal as possible, because with increasing proximity to the injured animal, its stress situation increases.

More information
Depending on the situation of the individual case, the insurance covers the damage to the vehicle for partially or fully insured persons. The prerequisite is that the wildlife accident has been proven. For this purpose, the persons or bodies who are informed about the accident must issue appropriate certificates. Wildlife tracks on the vehicle should be photographed.
