  • Detailed description

The senior citizens' representation is voluntary, non-denominational and non-partisan. It does not pursue any economic objectives and its members do not receive any benefits. In most major cities there is a senior citizens' representationg.

The following tasks fall within the area of responsibility of the Senior Citizens' Representation:

    • It advises members of their own generation on individual possibilities in their personal areas of life with the aim of promoting activities and independence and maintaining them for as long as possible.
    • It informs the public about fundamental possibilities and developments in the policy on the elderly, also with the aim of encouraging older people to actively participate in all situations of life.
    • It advises the council and administration as well as those responsible for working with the elderly and other institutions in advance of decisions on plans and measures relevant to the older generation.

Senior citizens' offices are information, advice and mediation centres for voluntary and voluntary commitment in the post-professional phase of life.

Senior citizens' offices are aimed at people aged 50 and over who want to become active for themselves and others. Senior citizens' offices can also be important meeting places and offer meaningful tasks for people who have retired prematurely and younger people. Senior citizens' offices are contact persons for senior citizens' groups and initiatives as well as for non-profit organisations looking for volunteers.
