Detailed description
Parents have the option of applying for deferral of school attendance if it is expected that the child will not be able to meet the requirements of grade 1 of primary school. There can be different reasons for this.
The decision is made on the basis of the school doctor's opinion, the school admission interview and other information provided by the parents to the school.
Children who are deferred from attending school for one school year must attend a day care centre or a measure of rehabilitative early intervention. Proof of this must be presented by the parents to the school,
The deferral of school attendance should only be the exception.
