Detailed description
Tuberculosis is a contagious disease. It is an infectious disease that often begins with uncharacteristic symptoms (e.g. cough, tiredness, slight fever) and mainly affects the lungs, but can also affect other organs.
In order to prevent it from spreading in the body and to prevent other people from becoming infected, it is important to recognize it early and start treatment with medication.
Treatment must be prolonged and consistent, as otherwise there may be a renewed outbreak of the disease, the ineffectiveness of antibiotics (so-called development of resistance) and further cases of the disease through infection. The tasks of tuberculosis counseling in the districts and independent cities are
- Identification and examination of contact persons with tuberculosis patients
- Accompanying and monitoring outpatient anti-tuberculosis therapy
- Under certain circumstances, implementation of a therapy and its safeguarding
- Further follow-up checks after completion of therapy
The examination methods include
- Tuberculin skin test,
- Blood sampling for the gamma interferon test,
- arranging sputum examinations and
- X-ray of the lungs.
