Detailed description
A license is required to operate a casino in the state of Brandenburg.
The permit application must be submitted to the Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs.
A legal entity under public law or a company under private law in which the State of Brandenburg holds a direct or indirect interest - Brandenburgische Spielbanken GmbH & Co KG - is eligible to apply within the meaning of Section 3 of the Casino Act.
According to Section 2 of the Casino Act, the locations Potsdam, Frankfurt (Oder) and Cottbus or a municipality bordering on these cities or a municipality that belongs to the area of an office bordering on the aforementioned cities are eligible.
The requirements and contents of the license are regulated in Section 4 of the Casino Act.
A casino license is issued for 10 years. It can be extended for 5 years at a time upon application. The application must be submitted at the latest before the expiry of the penultimate year of the permit's validity period.

- Complete application with proof of fulfillment of the requirements in accordance with Section 4 of the Casino Act

Substantiated application with evidence of the requirements pursuant to Section 4 of the Gaming Act (e.g. social concept, certificates of good conduct)

Fees
The fees are calculated according to time spent (hourly rates) (Fee Act for the State of Brandenburg and Fee Schedule MIK):
- For employees of the higher service or comparable tariff employees: 80 euros
- For employees of the higher service or comparable tariff employees: 60 euros
- For employees in the intermediate service or comparable tariff employees: 48 euros and
- For civil servants or comparable tariff employees: 38 euros.

Process
Submit your complete application to the Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs of the State of Brandenburg.
The application will be checked, processed and approved. The decision will be sent by post.

Duration
The processing time depends on the volume of applications and any follow-up questions/submissions. As a rule, a processing period of 5 months can be assumed.

Deadline
The application must be submitted no later than 12 months before the start of the requested permit or the period of validity of the permit.
