  • Detailed description

    In order to be able to operate a casino in the state of Brandenburg, a permit is necessary.

    The application for permission must be submitted to the Ministry of the Interior and for Municipal Affairs.

    Eligible to apply pursuant to § 3 of the Casino Act is a legal entity under public law or a private law company in which the State of Brandenburg has a direct or indirect stake – Brandenburgische Spielbanken GmbH & Co. KG.

    In accordance with § 2 of the Casino Act, the locations potsdam, Frankfurt (Oder) and Cottbus or a municipality adjacent to these cities or a municipality that belongs to the territory of an office adjacent to the mentioned cities are eligible.

    The requirements and permit content are regulated in § 4 of the Casino Act.

    A casino permit is issued for 10 years. It can be extended by 5 years on request. The application shall be submitted at the latest before the end of the penultimate year of validity of the permit.

    • Applicant must be entitled to apply in the manner of § 3 of the Casino Act
    • Timely application
    • Complete application with proof of compliance with the requirements according to § 4 Casino Act
  • Documents

    Reasoned application with proof of the requirements according to § 4 Casino Act (e.B. social concept, certificates of good conduct)

  • Fees

    The fees are calculated according to time expenditure (hourly rates) (Fees Act for the State of Brandenburg and Fee Schedule MIK):

    • For senior staff or comparable collectively agreed employees: EUR 80
    • For senior staff or comparable employees covered by collective agreements: EUR 60
    • For middle-service staff or comparable collectively agreed employees: EUR 48 and
    • For employees of the simple service or comparable collectively agreed employees: 38 euros.
  • Process

    Submit your complete application to the Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs of the State of Brandenburg.

    The application will be examined, processed and approved. The notification will be sent by post.

  • Duration

    The processing time depends on the application volume and any inquiries/submissions. As a general, a processing time of 5 months can be assumed.

  • Deadline

    The application must be submitted at the latest before the expiry of 12 months at the beginning of the requested permit or the validity period of the permit.
