Detailed description
If there is an emergency in the supply of medicines because there are no pharmacies to supply the population, you as the owner of a nearby pharmacy can apply for permission to operate a branch pharmacy. Branch pharmacies have fewer facilities than normal pharmacies, but these are also regulated by law.
Branch pharmacies must be managed, and the manager needs a permit from the relevant authority.
You will not normally be granted a permit for more than one branch pharmacy.
The permit is granted to you for 5 years, it can be reissued.

- You are the owner of a nearby pharmacy.

- Notification as to whether and, if so, at which location you operate one or more pharmacies in a Member State of the European Union or in another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or in a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area to which Germany and the European Union have granted a corresponding legal entitlement by contract
- Proof that you have the prescribed business premises at your disposal

An operating licence is issued to you on application after
- The competent authority determines that the legal requirements are met.
- If the requirements are met, the operating permit is issued.
- An acceptance inspection of the operating premises must be carried out by the competent authority before the start of operation.
