  • Detailed description

The Public Health Service will provide you with general information on certain infectious diseases, e.g.: What should you do in an emergency? What are the transmission routes? How great is the risk of infection?

The Public Health Service, in particular the Health departments of the districts and independent cities, monitor compliance with hygiene requirements, especially in the facilities and facilities specified in the Infection Protection Act, for example in daycare centers, schools, hospitals, doctors' surgeries and homeless facilities. In cooperation with other service providers, it works towards comprehensive vaccination protection of the population.

In addition to the general practitioners, the employees in the health authorities also answer questions from citizens in connection with communicable diseases. These include questions about the transmission routes and the risk of infection.

In addition, the health authorities offer advice on tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases as well as on HIV/AIDS. They provide information on requirements related to drinking water and bathing water as well as pest infestation. In many health departments, there is also the possibility to be vaccinated.
