In which cases is a mortuary passport required for the transfer of a corpse?

Detailed description
For the transfer of a corpse to another federal state, a mortuary passport is only required if this or a federal state touched on the journey requires one.
A mortuary passport is also required for the transfer of a corpse abroad, if the destination country or a country touched on the journey requires one. The mortuary passport is issued in several languages.

Responsible authority
Under Paragraph 18(4) of the BbgBestG, the lower health authority is responsible for issuing the mortuary passport in the cases referred to therein. According to § 3 paragraph 1 BbgGDG, these are the administrative districts and independent cities. They carry out their tasks as public health service providers in accordance with the Brandenburg Health Service Act in a health authority (cf. § 3 paragraph 1 sentence 2 BbgGDG). Therefore, please contact the health department of the district or the independent city where the person concerned died (health department of the place of death).
