Detailed description
The disposal of hazardous waste (problematic and harmful substances) and disposal waste from other sources is the responsibility of the public waste management authorities.
Hazardous waste is waste which, due to its material properties, may not be disposed of together with residual waste (household waste), as it may endanger health or have harmful effects on the environment.
Depending on the type of waste, completely different disposal methods may be used or special regulations or legal provisions may need to be observed, for example when disposing of:
- Waste containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs) such as PCBs,
- Waste containing mercury,
- Waste containing asbestos,
- waste oil.

Information on the costs incurred can be found in the respective waste fee statutes of your public waste disposal authority.

Process
The disposal of problematic and harmful substances is laid down in the individual statutes of the public waste disposal authorities. This also includes information about
- existing collection and delivery systems (pollutant mobile, recycling centers),
- waste fees and
- waste calendar (collection intervals).
