  • Forms
    • Written form required: Yes

  • Detailed description

You may only use a vehicle subject to registration on public roads if it has been registered by the competent registration authority.

Proof of registration is the registration certificate part I, which you should therefore always carry with you and hand over to the responsible persons on request.

The registration certificate part I contains the most important information about the vehicle and is the main identification document for traffic checks.

It is an EU-wide document. If you still have an old registration certificate for your vehicle, it remains valid.

  • Requirements

The requirements for the registration of a vehicle must be met.

  • Process

Check that all data is entered correctly when the registration certificate Part I is issued and complain about any discrepancies as soon as possible.

If there is still an old vehicle registration certificate for the vehicle, the data will be transferred from there to the registration certificate part I. When the new papers are issued, have the old registration certificate validated and handed over to you so that you have a document showing the previous entries.
