  • Detailed description

    For certain purposes, the competent authority may, upon request, allow you to catch fish using electricity. These include: fisheries inventories and stock surveys, for conservation measures, for catching spawning fish, for research and teaching purposes as well as for fisheries water management. Furthermore, various requirements are placed on the electric fishing gear and its operators. Under certain circumstances, a catch certificate must be kept.

  • Requirements

    You must state the purpose of the fishing using electricity and submit the necessary documents.

    In addition, you are only allowed to fish using direct current or suitable pulse direct current. You must use the electric fishing gear in accordance with the recognised rules of technology. They must comply with the due diligence obligations arising from the operating instructions and the special local circumstances.

    Electrofishing is a form of fishing within the meaning of Section 17 (1) of the Fisheries Act for the State of Brandenburg (BbgFischG) and generally requires a professional permit in accordance with Section 17 (2) of the BbgFischG.

    Management fee: 30.00 – 360.00 EUR

  • Process
    • You apply for authorization (authorization) to be allowed to fish using electricity by filling out and submitting the form. In doing so, you state the purpose and attach the necessary documents.
    • The competent authority will check your application for completeness and whether the technical requirements for an exemption are met.
    • After completion of the examination, you will be informed of the rejection or approval in a notice. This notice may be subject to a fee.

    If electrofishing is carried out for fishing inventories, stock surveys or for research and teaching purposes, a catch record must be kept according to a specified model.

    It should be noted that further public and private law approvals/approvals, which are usually subject to a fee, may be necessary.
