Apply for registration as a small craft entrepreneur in the register of the locally competent Chamber of Crafts
If you would like to focus on a non-essential activity of a craft subject to approval and have a relevant journeyman's training, you must be entered in the register of your local Chamber of Crafts.

- Go to the website of your local Chamber of Crafts or to the service portal of your federal state and select the right online service.
- The online service guides you step by step through the application.
- You can submit the required documents digitally.
Written application:
- Go to the website of your local Chamber of Crafts.
- Download the application forms for registration in the register of craftsmen.
- Fill out the forms completely and send them to your local Chamber of Crafts together with the required proof of your knowledge.
- Your application and the supporting documents will be checked by the Chamber of Crafts.
After checking your documents, you will receive a craftsman's card and a notification of registration if the requirements are met.

Detailed description
Chambers of Crafts represent the interests of the entire craft sector in a chamber district. Their task is to promote the region's businesses and support their interests through self-government.
If you are self-employed in a non-essential activity of a craft subject to licensing, which quantitatively accounts for the majority of your commercial activity and is carried out in a craft business form, and have a journeyman's training in a craft subject to licensing, the training content of which has prepared you for the activity carried out, you are a compulsory member of the Chamber of Crafts.
By commencing your commercial activity, you must apply for entry in the register of persons pursuant to Section 90 (3) and (4) HwO. The Chamber of Crafts in whose district your commercial establishment exists is responsible.
As soon as you belong to the Chamber of Crafts, you can use the offers and services of your Chamber of Crafts.

Requirements
- Self-employed exercise of a non-essential activity of a craft subject to licensing.
- In quantitative terms, this activity accounts for the majority of commercial activity and is carried out in the form of a craft business.
- The applicant has a journeyman's training in a craft subject to approval, the training content of which has prepared him or her for the activity carried out. Certain preparatory training measures are treated in the same way, which essentially correspond to a completed journeyman's training.
