Send annual report on eel catch

If you are engaged in eel fishing for a living, you must keep written records for eel fishing. You summarise these in an annual report for the calendar year and send it to the higher fisheries authority.

  • Detailed description

    If you are engaged in eel fishing professionally, you must document the eel fishing in writing/digitally.

    In these records, you shall indicate the fishing area and water, the total catch weight of eels, the proportion of silver eels and the type and duration of use of the fishing gear used.

    For the annual report, summarize these records for the calendar year and submit them to the higher fisheries authority.

  • Requirements

    You must be registered for eel fishing, i.e. you must have a registration number.

  • Process
    • They summarise their eel fisheries and check their information for completeness.
    • They transmit the information to the higher fisheries authority.
    • The Higher Fisheries Authority receives and examines your reports. If necessary, questions will be clarified with you.
    • They are required to keep the records on which the report is based for at least five years.

    If the eel fishery has been carried out for at least one month, an entry must be made in any case.

    Entries are required for all months in which an eel fishery actually took place, even if no catch was successful. This serves to fully record the fishing effort in the eel fishery.
