  • Detailed description

    You can extend your driving license by class L.

    With the class L driver's license (colloquially ''small tractor driver's license") you may drive the following vehicles at the age of 16:

    • Tractors intended and used for agricultural or forestry purposes with a maximum design speed of 40 km/h or less.
    • combinations of these vehicles and trailers, if they are driven at a maximum speed of 25 km/h
    • self-propelled machines, feed mixers, forklifts and other industrial trucks, in each case with a maximum design speed of 25 km/h
    • combinations of these vehicles and trailers

    The driving license class L is issued for an unlimited period of time.

  • Requirements
    • You must have a driver's license.
    • You must have your main residence in the Federal Republic of Germany.
    • You must have reached the minimum age of 16 years.
  • Documents
    • valid identity card or passport (if necessary with current certificate of residence)
    • Application for the extension of the driving license
    • a biometric photo according to the passport regulation (size 45x35 mm)
    • eye test certificate (not older than two years)
    • proof of training in first aid (if not already proven to the driving license authority)
    • valid driver's license
    • if necessary, a copy of the card from the last issuing authority (if different)
    • Information about the driving school

  • Fees

    The fee is based on the Fee Regulations for Road Traffic Measures (GebOSt).

    If the driver's license is sent directly to the home address, an additional shipping fee will be charged.

  • Duration

    Depending on the fulfilment of the conditions for grant – esp. Completion of driving training and passing the theoretical and practical driving test.

    The card driving licence is produced centrally by Bundesdruckerei GmbH in Berlin. In order to obtain the new driving licence, you can apply for the card driving licence to be sent to you. Direct mailing is carried out by Bundesdruckerei GmbH.
