Registering employees with a foreign connection in the Minimum Wage Notification Portal (Meldeportal Mindestlohn)

If you are a foreign employer that employs staff in Germany, you must give notification of this through the Minimum Wage Notification Portal. The same applies if you are a German employer employing foreign temporary workers.

  • Detailed description

    You must give notification using the Minimum Wage Notification Portal if your employee works in one of the following industries:

    • Construction
    • Hotels and catering
    • Passenger transport
    • Freight, transportation and related logistics
    • Fairgrounds
    • Forestry
    • Cleaning of buildings
    • Companies involved in setting up and dismantling trade fairs and exhibitions
    • Meat and meat-processing
    • Prostitution

    You must enter the following information:

    • Employee’s name and date of birth
    • Start date and length of employment or assignment
    • Place of work
    • Place in Germany where the documents are kept
    • Name and address of the person responsible/agency

    You will also need somebody in Germany to whom post can be sent, and when giving notification, you must provide their name and address.

    • You are an employer headquartered abroad and your staff work in Germany, or
    • You are an employer headquartered in Germany and you employ at least one temporary worker from abroad.
    • The worker you have hired works in one of the following industries:
    • Construction
    • Hotels and catering
    • Passenger transport
    • Freight, transportation and related logistics
    • Fairgrounds
    • Forestry
    • Cleaning of buildings
    • Companies involved in setting up and dismantling trade fairs and exhibitions
    • Meat and meat-processing
    • Prostitution.

    • For foreign-domiciled employers: declaration that you comply with the minimum wage
    • For employers based in Germany: declaration by the foreign-domiciled posting employer that they comply with the minimum wage

  • Process

    The employer must give notification online on the Minimum Wage Notification Portal.

    • Register on the Minimum Wage Notification Portal
    • Confirm your email address and log in
    • Complete all the necessary information, upload the supporting documents and click ‘Übermitteln’ (‘submit’)
    • You will receive confirmation of receipt, showing the notification ID and the date and time of your notification
